The Icelandic government, through the Rikiskaup state procurement authority, has begun a competitive tender process for a new vessel for use by the country’s Marine Research Institute (Hafrannsoknastofnun).

The 70 metres LOA vessel will be built to comply with underwater noise regulations under ICES 209.

The vessel will be deployed on fisheries research missions within Icelandic waters. It will perform this role to complement Arni Fridriksson (pictured), a 2000-built research vessel in the Hafrannsoknastofnun fleet.
