Faroe Marine Research Institute takes delivery of locally built vessel

The Faroe Marine Research Institute (FAMRI) has taken delivery of a new vessel from local builder MEST.

Named Jákup Sverri, the BV-classed vessel is equipped to carry out oceanographic and fisheries research.

The newbuild has an LOA of 54 metres, a moulded beam of 13.6 metres, a maximum draught of 6.4 metres, and a maximum speed of 14 knots. It is equipped with trawls, underwater acoustic sensors, and provisions for launching and recovering remotely operated vehicles (ROVs).
