Dauphin Island Sea Lab, an Alabama-based marine research organisation, recently took delivery of a new research vessel from Georgia builder Carolina Skiff.

The newbuild, named Claire B, measures 7.62 metres long and could accommodate up to 25 people. It will be used primarily in assessing coastal marine habitats.

The boat was purchased through a US$25,000 grant awarded by the Alabama Power Foundation and an equivalent amount generated by private donors.
