China takes delivery of long-range research ship

Chinese state media reports that Da Yang Hao (“Great Ocean”), a newbuild long-range oceanographic research and exploration vessel, has been delivered to the country’s Ministry of Natural Resources.

The vessel has a length of 98.5 metres, a beam of 17 metres, a maximum speed of 16 knots, and a range of 14,000 nautical miles which will enable it to carry out deep-sea exploration work in any of the world’s oceans.

Da Yang Hao is equipped with remote sensing systems and facilities for deploying and recovering unmanned underwater vehicles.
