Russian port operator Rosmorport has entered into an agreement wherein it will deploy the icebreaker Viktor Chernomyrdin (pictured) to support the ArcOP multi-national scientific research expedition to the Arctic Ocean in 2022.

The vessel will join a fleet that will also include the Swedish icebreaker Oden and the Norwegian-flagged drillship Dina Polaris.

The ArcOP expedition will see scientific marine operations being carried out in difficult ice and weather conditions in the high latitudes of the Arctic on the Lomonosov Ridge, which is the one of the most remote parts of the world.
