Atomflot’s newest icebreaker undergoes sea trials

United Shipbuilding Corporation’s (USC) Vyborg Shipyard has begun sea trials of a new icebreaker ordered by Atomflot.

Named Ob, the vessel will provide icebreaking assistance for LNG tankers navigating the waters of Sabetta Port on the Yamal Peninsula.

The vessel has an LOA of 89.2 metres, a beam of 21.9 metres, a draught of 7.5 metres, and four engines with a total output of 12 MW. It is designed to penetrate ice up to 1.5 metres thick.
