The icebreaker CCGS Captain Molly Kool was formally welcomed into the Canadian Coast Guard in a ceremony on Thursday, May 30.

The 83- by 18-metre vessel is the first of three new icebreakers to join the coast guard fleet, and the first in 25 years.

Originally delivered in 2001 as the anchor handling tug Vidar Viking, Captain Molly Kool was retrofitted at Davie Shipbuilding to enable it to undertake icebreaking and other coast guard missions.
