Kongsberg, Viking develop multi-purpose USV

A collaboration between Kongsberg and the Viking Norsafe boats and davits division has resulted in a new unmanned surface vessel (USV) designed to work across different market segments.

Named Sounder, the multi-purpose USV system has been designed specifically for military and commercial maritime uses. It will serve a diverse range of applications from seabed mapping, fish finding, and search operations to reconnaissance and exploration.

The USV can fit into a 12-metre container and can be easily transportable by air, road, and sea.
