Yantar Shipyard, a company under Russia’s United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), has laid the keel for a new multi-purpose vessel slated for the country’s Marine Rescue Service.

The new vessel belongs to the Project MPSV06M series designed to be capable of search and rescue, salvage, and icebreaking duties. Once completed, it will measure 87 by 18 metres and can operate out at sea for 30 days.

The vessel will be operated primarily in the Russian Arctic.
