German sea rescue orders four newbuilds

The German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS) has ordered the construction of four rescue units from two North German shipyards.

For use on the North Sea and Baltic Sea from 2020, the orders include two rescue boats with a daughter boat and two new lifeboats for volunteer stations.

The four rescue units are to replace DGzRS’s current fleet, some of which has been in service for 30 years.

Fassmer Werft will build the two new sea rescue cruisers with a daughter boat. The vessels are the fourth and fifth unit of the 28-meter class introduced three years ago
