A new fire and rescue craft has been delivered to an operator in Missouri while two other vessels are nearing completion before being handed over to customers in Iceland and Kuwait. Construction is ongoing on two waterjet-powered response boats ordered by a firefighting agency in Greece.

New response boat delivered to central Missouri fire department

Lake Assault Boats of Superior, Wisconsin, recently handed over a new response boat to the Osage Beach Fire Protection District in central Missouri.

Named Marine 11, the modified V-hull craft is 31 feet (9.44 metres) long and has a 10.5-foot (3.2-metre) beam. The boat’s draught is less than 18 inches (0.45 metres) with motors trimmed up and 24 inches (0.6 metres) when trimmed down.

The craft includes a dive door on the port side as well as a fold down stair/ladder on the bow to aid in boarding and disembarking.

Power is supplied by twin 300hp (223kW) four-stroke Mercury outboards.

The firefighting system includes a Darley PSDE fire pump that is driven by a dedicated V8 petrol engine. There is also an electronically controlled TFT Monsoon rooftop monitor that offers an unobstructed range of at least 270 degrees and has a vertical coverage of 60 degrees above and five degrees below horizontal.

Sea trials begin for ICE-SAR’s newest RIB

Icelandic builder Rafnar has begun conducting sea trials of a new rigid inflatable boat (RIB) ordered by the Icelandic Search and Rescue Association (ICE-SAR).

The boat is powered by two Mercury outboards while the electronics suite includes a Simrad radar and a rotating thermal camera.

Once in service, the new RIB will be operated primarily off Iceland’s eastern coast.

Canadian builder to supply new firefighting boat to Kuwait

MetalCraft Marine of Ontario, Canada, is nearing completion of a new aluminium firefighting and rescue boat slated for the Kuwait Fire Force.

The 25.9-metre Monjed 2 will be powered by two MTU 10V2000 M86 diesel engines driving MJP DRB 500 waterjets via ZF gearboxes. This arrangement will deliver a speed of 27.8 knots.

The new boat is scheduled for delivery to Kuwait in September 2022. It will also perform a secondary patrol function once in service.

Design work on Monjed 2 was provided by Walker Marine Design of the UK.

Construction underway on new firefighting boats for Greece

Croatian builder Tehnomont has begun construction on two new firefighting vessels for the Hellenic Fire Service.

The engines on the Bureau Veritas-classed, Camarc-designed newbuildings will be used for both propulsion and firefighting functions. When used for propulsion, the engines on each boat drive three Hamilton waterjets.

The boats will also be equipped with HamiltonJet station keeping systems.
