Boat-barge system to assist shallow-water response operations

US builder Elastec has launched a shallow-draught boat and barge system for oil spill and emergency responders.

Capable of reaching speeds up to 40 knots, the 6.7-metre “Inlander” response boat and barge is designed for oil spill response, search and rescue and construction projects.

The 1,814-kilogram cargo capacity hauls heavy response equipment quickly and safely. Its shallow draught, modified V-hull is a functional alternative to the use of fishing boats for response operations, Elastec said.

The barge offers 10.6 square metres of deck space. It would be towed by a boat featuring 8.8 square metres of deck space around its centre console.

Inlander boats and barges can be lashed together to form various configurations of work and dive platforms.
