UK builder unveils electric RIB

UK-based RS Sailing, through newly established sister company RS Electric Boats, recently unveiled the first images of a new series of rigid inflatable boat (RIB) powered by a fully integral electric drive.

Each boat in the series will have length of 5.8 metres and a 57kWh battery bank that will ensure a range of 35 nautical miles at a speed of 20 knots.

RS Electric Boats said that the first units of the RIB will be for leisure and coaching boat use but added that production examples optimised for commercial applications will also be available in future.
