Odfjell Tanker spills 217 tonnes of oil at Botlek Terminal

On June 23, an oil tanker operated by Odfjell Tankers made contact with a jetty at Botlek Terminal, Rotterdam, rupturing the hull and causing it to spill 217 tonnes of heavy fuel oil from the fuel tank inside.

Mitigating actions were immediately taken to limit the spill, both by the vessel’s crew and by resources from shore.

The leakage was stopped, and there is no risk of further spills.

The 37,499DWT Bow Jubail has a total personnel of 29, none of whom were injured in the incident.

The vessel did not carry any cargo and is now safely moored at the Botlek Terminal.
