Canadian firm to put up oil spill response base on Vancouver Island

POLLUTION RECOVERY WEEK

Western Canada Marine Response Corporation (WCMRC) has unveiled plans for a new on-water oil spill response base on Vancouver Island.

The base will be located on Port Alberni Port Authority property with vessels forward stationed in Ucluelet on the island’s west coast.

Construction of the new base is expected to begin in early 2020. It is scheduled to become operational in late 2021.
