Nigerian pilot boat newbuilding contract awarded to Chinese yard

China’s Jianglong Shipbuilding was recently awarded a contract for the construction of two new steel-aluminium pilot boats in a series for the Nigerian Ports Authority.

The vessels will each have an LOA of 15.4 metres, a beam of 5.05 metres, and two engines that will deliver a speed of 20 knots. The indoor cabin on each boat will have seating for up to four pilots/passengers and two crewmembers.

The pilot boats will be classed by Bureau Veritas.

The vessels will be the third and fourth pilot boats that Jianglong will build for the same customer. The first two boats, which were delivered in 2020, each measure 20 metres and can accommodate up to 12 pilots/passengers.
