USA-based Nordlund Boat Company has launched the 19-metre pilot boat Orion for Jacobsen Pilot Service serving Long Beach Harbor, California.
The Orion is all composite construction with fibreglass (GRP) hull and carbon fibre house and mast. She is powered by Hamilton waterjets, and twin Caterpillar C18s providing a total of 1,200kW. The average service speed is 25 knots.
Length overall is 19.4 metres and beam 5.9 metres, with maximum draft of 0.94 metres. Fuel capacity is 5,300 litres and Orion carries 380 litres of fresh water.
A Northern Lights 12kW generator provides electrical power.
