Goodchild Marine to build high-speed pilot boat for Lowestoft

Goodchild Marine Services has been awarded a contract to build a new pilot boat for the Port of Lowestoft in Suffolk County, England.

The deal will see Goodchild construct a 12-metre vessel for owners Associated British Ports (ABP).

Designed by French company Pantocarene, the carbon fibre-hulled vessel will be able to reach speeds in excess of 26 knots and will therefore be faster and more fuel efficient than any previous Lowestoft-based pilot boat.

Delivery is expected in May 2019.
