The Sherman Volunteer Fire Department (SVFD) of Sherman, Connecticut, has placed a new response boat into service.

Built by Canada’s Stanley Boats, the newbuild landing craft Marine 7 replaces a similarly named older vessel in the SVFD.

The boat has a length of 6.7 metres, a Yamaha 167kW outboard engine, and a fire pump rated at 2,000 litres per minute. It may also function as a water source to pump water into fire trucks on shore.

Marine 7 will serve the town of Sherman and provide mutual aid support for the four other communities on Candlewood Lake.
