PHOTO OF THE DAY: Art piece on River Thames burnt to mark Great Fire anniversary

A massive replica of London was set alight on the Thames on September 3, 2016 to mark the 350th anniversary of the Great Fire of London. Fireboats constantly sailed close to the inferno to “mist” the flames – which made the blaze burn brighter. Once the 120-metre-long structure had completely burned to the ground (barge deck), the boats extinguished the fire.
