New 61m firefighting and rescue vessel launched in China

China’s Xinyang Shipbuilding has floated out a new emergency response vessel slated for the Qingdao Fire Rescue Detachment in Shandong province.

Qingxiao San Hao (“Qingxiao No. 3”) has an LOA of 61.6 metres, a moulded beam of 13.2 metres, and two 2,525kW engines that will deliver a cruising speed of 15 knots. Its duties will include firefighting, search and rescue, command and control, and towing of distressed vessels at sea.

The onboard equipment will consist of nine foam/water cannons.
