Metal Shark to build new response boat for Canaveral Fire Rescue

Metal Shark Boats has been awarded a contract to build a new response boat for Canaveral Fire Rescue in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

The new Canaveral boat will be a 21- by six-metre welded aluminium monohull pilothouse vessel equipped with a positive-pressure chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and high-yield explosive (CBRNE) system to provide crew protection during various disaster response scenarios.

Other equipment will include a FLIR imaging system and two firefighting pumps each rated at 11,000 litres per minute.

Four MAN 596kW diesel engines mated to quad Hamilton waterjets will deliver a cruising speed of 30 knots and a maximum speed of 35 knots.
