Yaroslavsky Shipy Shipbuilding Plant floats boom-laying boat

Yaroslavsky Shipbuilding Plant in Russia has launched the boom-laying boat Kapitan Balashov on the Volga River.

Developed by Agat-Design, Kapitan Balashov is the fifth in the series of six Project А-40–2Б-ЯР vessels.

The vessels are used to transport and install boom guards in sea coastal search-and-rescue areas, to contain the spread of spilled oil products, to liquidate oil spills, and to collect the spilled oil products into floating containers.

They can also be used for towing to shore or floating stations and for the construction of oil-gathering orders.
