Meercat launches multi-purpose workhorse

UK-based Meercat Boats has launched its latest multi-purpose workboat that can carry up to 85 tonnes of cargo and has a bollard pull of 12 tonnes.

Powered by two Doosan engines that deliver 353kW at 1800rpm, the 18.75-metre by 8.7-metre, twin-screw monohull vessel has a top speed of 9.5 knots.

Meercat Managing Director Jason Coltman said the workboat was designed for bigger projects, such as port services, construction works, dredging support and offshore maintenance works.

Designed and built at Meercat’s Hythe Marine Park, Southampton base, the welded-steel vessel has a variety of deck/internal arrangement options and the wheelhouse offers all-round visibility.

Equipped with an Iron Fist deck crane and 10-tonne deck tugger winch, it has a range of 60 nautical miles from safe haven.
