Turkey's Sefine Shipyard has handed over the 3,000-cubic metre live fish carrier 'Gaso Viking' to a Norwegian owner.
Established in 2005, Sefine Shipyard is located in Yalova, occupying 140,000 cubic metres of bay area for shipbuilding and repair projects. The vessel's keel was laid in July 2013 and delivered in March of this year. Møre Maritime of Norway carried out the design of the vessel, which was built to a Det Norske Veritas classification.
Sailing under a Norwegian flag, the 'Gaso Viking' features the latest maritime technology including an automatic radar plotting aid and an Anschutz compass located in the wheelhouse.
The steel vessel is 78 metres long, 16 metres wide, has a draught of 6.5 metres and has a depth to the shelter deck of 11 metres.
Four MTU engines power the vessel, each rated for 1,455kW of power at 1,800rpm that drive controllable-pitch propellers via Heimdal gearboxes. To aid manoeuvrability, a 600kW bow thruster and a 600kW stern thruster are also installed.
Running on marine diesel oil, the vessel has a fuel capacity of 250m3 and a freshwater capacity of 170m3.
