Vijai Marine Shipyards has designed and carried out a luxury offshore accommodation conversion of a dumb pontoon.
Named the 'Royale Floatel', the new vessel is a 14-room all-suite, high-end floating hotel.
Delivered to its new owners in 2013, it is the first vessel in the country under IRS-class.
With a capacity for only 60 passengers, the 60.2-metre x 13-metre vessel is fitted with a spa featuring Jacuzzi hot tubs.
Further, it claims a Five Star Hotel rating, boasting the largest single room size in India.
Vijai's parent company, Delta Corp, operates a large floating casino on the Mandovi River in Goa. The 'Royale Flotel' will cruise the same river at a relaxing eight knots.
A pair of Cummins NTA855M diesels, each delivering 242kW at 1,800rpm through ZF gears to turn 1.1-metre propellers, provides propulsion power for the floating hotel.
Three more Cummins NTA855DM engines will power 330kVa gensets to meet the vessel's extensive electrical requirements.
