Review: Museu Marítim de Barcelona (Barcelona Maritime Museum, Spain)

Barcelona is definitely one of the best and most interesting maritime museums anywhere.

Located near the seaward end of the famous “walking street” Las Ramblas on the old waterfront of this notable maritime city, the museum has been created in an old “arsenale” or galley shipyard. Indeed, Barcelona features a great deal of galley building and operational history.

The Spanish, particularly the Catalans, have a long and notable maritime history. It is very well celebrated in this fine museum. The ambience is wonderful, and, as is always desirable, the museum is adjacent to the port and surrounded by restaurants and cafes.

One of the best.
