Dutch pilotage operator's newest boat hits the water

Published on:

Netherlands-based Next Generation Shipyards has floated out a new aluminium-hulled, high-speed pilot boat ordered by the Dutch Pilot Association (Nederlands Loodswezen).

Like its 2020-built sister Mira and the recently delivered Maud, Milo will be used for pilotage tasks in the harbours and coastal waters of the Netherlands, transporting Dutch pilots to larger ships at sea to bring them safely and on schedule to their destinations in Dutch harbours.

Upon completion, the 23-metre boat will be equipped with an all-around safety rail system to guide pilots and crew safely to the boarding positions on the deck. Decks and railings will be heated for improved grip and use in low temperatures.

A hydraulically operated cradle will be fitted at the stern to retrieve people out of the water in MOB situations.

The wheelhouse will feature three air suspension seats for the pilots and 12 luxury passenger seats.

Milo will soon start undergoing testing to prepare it for delivery to Nederlands Loodswezen.
