TUI Cruises takes delivery of its third new build

TUI Cruises has taken delivery of ‘Mein Schiff 5’ from the Meyer Turku shipyard. The cruise ship is TUI’s third newbuild.

Construction began in November 2014 and the vessel will be commissioned in July 2016.

The 99,800GT vessel measures 295 metres long, with a width of 36 metres and a draught of eight metres.

With 15 decks, the ‘Mein Schiff 5’ can carry 1,026 crew and 2,794 passengers, it has 13 restaurants and 13 bars and lounges.

The vessel uses a combined exhaust after-treatment systemwhich reduces sulfur emissions by approximately 99 per cent and nitrogen oxide emissions by around 75 per cent, TUI said. Energy consumption is a further four per cent lower than on its sister ship ‘Mein Schiff 3’.
