Finland’s Rauma Marine Constructions has completed the first series of sea trials of a new Ro-Pax ferry ordered by local operator Wasaline.

The trials for Aurora Botnia were carried out over a span of three days to assess the performance of its LNG-powered main engines. In future, the engines will be modified to be capable of operating on biogas as well.

Preparations are underway for the hand-over of the vessel to Wasaline. The dates of the hand-over and the maiden operational voyage will be announced by the operator later this month.

Aurora Botnia will be operated between the Finnish city of Vaasa and the Swedish city of Umeå.
