A Ro-Pax ferry operated by Faroe Islands shipping company Smyril Line will boast increased passenger capacity and upgraded onboard facilities upon completion of an ongoing retrofit in Denmark.

The 164-metre Norröna will have an additional 50 luxury cabins as well as a new cafe, bar, and lounge with panoramic windows on the uppermost passenger deck.

The retrofit began in December 2020 and is expected to be completed by March 1, 2021. Following the rerofit, the vessel will resume operations on Smyril’s regular service between the Faroe Islands, Denmark, and Iceland.

The work on Norröna is being carried out at Fayard shipyard with the cooperation of Danish naval architects Hauschildt Marine.
