Polish builder cuts steel for new hybrid vessel for Finferries

Poland’s Crist Shipyard has cut the first steel for a new hybrid Ro-Pax vessel ordered by Finnish operator Finferries.

The LMG Marin-designed ferry will have a length of 70 metres and capacity for 200 passengers and 52 cars or a combination of various motor vehicles and trailers.

The vessel will be operated along Finferries’ service between two island communities in the town of Vastaboland. It will utilise batteries as its main source of propulsive power whereas its diesel engines will be used only as backups.
