Biraddali Inter-Island Shipping Corporation, a shipowner based in Zamboanga City in the southern Philippines, recently took delivery of a new Ro-Pax ferry from local builder Hulltech Shipbuilding Marine Corporation.

Named Alfrazan, the newbuild will be operated regularly between Zamboanga City and Bongao on the island province of Tawi-Tawi after the Philippine government eases sea travel restrictions amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

For its maiden voyage, the ferry sailed under charter with the Philippine government to transport 130 university students back to their home provinces in the southern part of the country after they had become stranded in Manila in March following the suspension of commercial sea travel.
