BC Ferries’ fourth Salish-class Ro-Pax ferry will be named Salish Heron, the company said in a recent press release.

The name of the 107-metre, LNG-powered vessel was chosen to honour the great blue heron, a species of migratory bird commonly found in British Columbia.

Salish Heron will begin sailing on BC Ferries’ Southern Gulf Island service in 2022 following delivery from Remontowa Shipbuilding in Poland.
