Moby, GSI sign Ro-Pax contract

Italy’s Moby Lines and Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) have signed a contract for the construction of two large luxury-type Ro-Paxes in a series.

Each vessel will have an LOA of 237 metres, a beam of 32 metres, and capacity for 2,500 passengers and 1,300 cars upon completion, making them two of the largest Ro-Paxes ever built.

The vessels will also be fitted with scrubbers and will be designed to allow conversion from traditional marine fuel to LNG fuel.

Keel-laying is scheduled for June 2020. The first vessel will enter service sometime in 2022 and the second will follow after six months.
