Mitsubishi Shipbuilding has been awarded a contract by Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) for the construction of two Ro-Pax ferries in a series.

Each ferry will have a length of 199 metres, a beam of 28 metres, and capacity for 763 passengers and up to 236 vehicles.

The vessels are scheduled for delivery at the end of 2022 and early 2023. MOL subsidiary Ferry Sunflower will operate the newbuildings, which will be the first passenger vessels in Japan to run on LNG.
