Meimon Taiyo Ferry’s newest 195m Ro-Pax hits the water

Mitsubishi Shipbuilding floated out a new Ro-Pax ferry at its Shimonoseki facilities on Friday, October 8.

Ferry Fukuoka is the second of two large ferries being built for Japan Railway Construction, Transport and Technology Agency (JRTA) and Meimon Taiyo Ferry. It will be delivered in March 2022 and will replace the older Ferry Fukuoka II on the route between Osaka and Shinmoji in Kitakyushu.

Once completed, Ferry Fukuoka will measure 195 by 27.8 metres and will have capacity for 675 passengers, 162 12-metre lorries, and 140 cars.
