K Line Group companies join forces for Japan’s first LNG-fuelled ferry

Kawasaki Kinkai Kisen Kaisha (K Line Kinkai) and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) have agreed to work on joint study for K Line Kinkai’s planned newbuild passenger ferry, to be fuelled by LNG.

The study will include specifications, engine types and any related technical verifications for LNG handling. The K Line Group has also been studying the potential introduction of various types of LNG-fuelled vessels, including car carriers and tugs, as well as considering its own LNG supply business.
