Holland Shipyards lays keel of new electric ferry for Brevik Fergeselskap

Holland Shipyards Group recently laid the keel for a new electric-powered double-ended Ro-Pax ferry ordered by Norway’s Brevik Fergeselskap in August 2019.

The vessel, the first fully electric ferry for Brevik Fergeselskap, will operate within the waters of Eidangerfjorden. The ferry service will connect Brevik with Sandøya and Bjørkøya.

The new electric ferry will have a length of 42 metres, a beam of 11 metres, 1,300 kWh of battery power, and the capacity to transport 98 people and 16 vehicles. It will also be fitted with a thermal energy storage system to provide heat.
