DFDS places order for two 4,500-lane-metre Ro-Pax vessels

Danish shipping and logistics company DFDS has ordered two freight and passenger (Ro-Pax) ferries for its Baltic routes from Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI).

Intended for DFDS’ six ferry routes, the ships will each carry 600 passengers and 4,500 lane meters of freight and passenger vehicles once they are built at GSI’s Nansha Yard in China.

Scheduled for delivery in the first and third quarters of 2021, the ferries will be deployed on the routes connecting Lithuania with Sweden or Germany.

The ships will cost DKK1.8 billion (US$296 million).
