Damen bags Timor-Leste ferry order

Damen Shipyards Group has been awarded a contract to build a new Ro-Pax ferry for the Port Authority of Timor-Leste (Administrasaun Portuariu Timor Leste; APORTIL).

The vessel will operate a route between the country’s capital Dili, the Oecusse enclave, and the island of Ataúro, providing regular transportation of passengers, vehicles, and goods on the north coast of the island.

The ferry will have a length of 67.3 metres, a beam of 16 metres, a draught of 3.3 metres, capacity for 380 passengers, and two Yanmar 837kW engines that will deliver a maximum speed of 10 knots. Construction will take place at Damen Yichang Shipyard in China.

Delivery of the ferry to APORTIL is scheduled for 2021.
