Rauma Marine Constructions (RMC) of Finland recently held a steel-cutting ceremony to mark the start of construction of a new Ro-Pax ferry ordered by Australian operator TT-Line Company.

The future Spirit of Tasmania IV will be the first of a planned series of two ferries that will sail on TT-Line’s Spirit of Tasmania service between Geelong and Devonport in Bass Strait.

Both vessels are scheduled to be completed by late 2024. Each will have capacity for 1,800 passengers and dual-fuel propulsion that can also operate on LNG.
