Spain’s Armon Shipyard launched a new hybrid-powered Ro-Pax ferry into the water at its Gijon facilities on Friday, September 18.

Named Eleanor Roosevelt, the Incat Crowther-designed catamaran ferry will have capacity for 1,200 passengers and four 8,800kW engines that will deliver a maximum speed of 40 knots and a range of 1,900 nautical miles in hybrid LNG-diesel mode.

Delivery is scheduled for the first quarter of 2021. It will be operated by local ferry company Baleària.
