Three injured after wave hits tour boat off Western Australia

Three people suffered varying degrees of injury and had to be airlifted to hospital after a sightseeing boat was reportedly struck by a “rogue wave” off the mid-west coast of Western Australia on Tuesday, September 20.

Reports said the vessel was underway with 12 people on board 20 kilometres off the coast of Denham when it was struck by a wave at around 14:30 local time on Tuesday.

The vessel later arrived in Denham to offload the passengers. As the town had no hospital of its own, the three injured individuals had to be airlifted more than 800 kilometres to Perth.

The three hospitalised individuals are all in their 60s and includes one female passenger who suffered critical injuries.
