Yank Marine newbuild joins NY Waterway ferry fleet

A new aluminium passenger vessel has been delivered to New York-based Port Imperial Ferry Company, which operates under the name NY Waterway.

Franklin D. Roosevelt is the first in a series of three vessels designed by LeMole Naval Architecture and built by New Jersey shipyard Yank Marine for Port Imperial. It has a length of 33.2 metres, a beam of 9.4 metres, and twin Cummins QSK38 745kW engines that deliver a service speed of 22 knots.

Franklin D. Roosevelt is also the third Yank Marine vessel to join the Port Imperial ferry fleet after the 2015-built Molly Pitcher and the 2016-built Betsy Ross. All three have similar hull designs and dimensions though Franklin D. Roosevelt has capacity for up to 599 passengers compared to only 350 for each of the two older ferries.
