UK hovercraft builder secures £25 million in new orders in Japan

UK-based Griffon Hoverwork has been awarded a £25 million (US$33.3 million) contract to supply three new hovercraft ferries in a series to the Oita Prefecture government in Japan.

The 23-metre, 80-passenger vessels will be used as shuttle ferries between Oita Airport in Kunisaki and nearby Oita City.

Construction on the hovercraft ferries will commence in January 2022. Delivery of all three vessels is scheduled to be completed by January 2024.
