Russian yard secures orders for hydrofoil ferries

Russia's Vympel Shipyard has been awarded a contract for the construction of new catamaran hydrofoil ferries for local operators Mashpromlizing and East Siberian River Shipping Company.

Each vessel will measure 38 by 10 metres and will have capacity for 148 passengers plus four crewmembers. Sailing at 34 knots will yield a range of 700 kilometres.

The keels for the first ferries will be laid in the first quarter of 2022. Deliveries are scheduled to commence in 2023.
