New Hong Kong ferry completes initial sea trials

China’s Jianglong Shipbuilding has completed conducting the initial sea trials of a new all-steel vessel slated for Hong Kong Fortune Ferry Company.

Fuqiang (“Prosperous”) measures 34.7 by 8.6 metres and has seating for up to 365 passengers plus four crew. It is powered by two main engines, which also enabled it to reach a speed of 12 knots during the trials.

Once in service, the ferry will also be operated as a sightseeing boat in the waters of the Dawan District between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau.

Fuqiang is a near identical sister of Fuxing, which was delivered earlier this year.
