Kochi Metro Rail welcomes new hybrid ferry to fleet

Indian transport company Kochi Metro Rail (KMRL) took delivery of a new hybrid electric ferry on Friday, December 31.

Muziris is the first of 23 hybrid electric ferries that Cochin Shipyard is building for KRML.

The newbuild measures 24 metres long and can accommodate up to 100 passengers. It is equipped with a Siemens electric propulsion system that draws power from an Echandia Marine LTO battery pack.
