Eastern Shipbuilding launches second Ollis-class ferry
Eastern Shipbuilding Group has launched the second of three Ollis-class ferries being built for the City of New York Department of Transportation (NYCDOT).
Sandy Ground will operate as part of NYCDOT’s Staten Island Ferry Division. Once completed, it will have an LOA of 97.5 metres, a moulded beam of 21.3 metres, a design draught of 3.9 metres, and capacity for 4,500 passengers.
Design work on the vessel was provided by Elliott Bay Design Group.
